A Member of Congress (also known as Congressman, Congresswoman or Congressperson) is term used for a politician who is a member of a congress.[1] In countries with a parliament rather than a congress, the term Member of Parliament (MP) is often used instead.
In the United States, the term technically applies to members of both the upper house Senate and lower House of Representatives as "Congress" technically refers to both houses. In common practise, Member of Congress is used to refer to members of the House of Representatives as members of the Senate are referred to as "Senator".
