Modifiers are words or group of words that describes or limits a
verb, noun, adjective, or adverb. Modifiers applied to nouns are
called adjectives. Modifiers applied to verbs or adjectives are
considered to be adverbs. Those that are applied to adverbs are
also called adverbs.
Here are some samples:
The purse is very pretty. Pretty modifies purse. It could be
written as "that is a pretty purse."
Jonny ran speedily toward home because he was late for dinner.
Speedily modifies ran.
