Milt Gross
Gross, Milt (1895–1953), American illustrator and humorist, who created popular cartoons for the New York Evening Journal, the New York Tribune, and the New York World. Among his best‐known humorous works, in which he published phonetic Yiddish versions of classical fairy tales, are Nize Baby (1926) and Famous Fimales from Heestory (1928). Such delightful stories as ‘Sturry from Rad Ridink Hoot’ and ‘Ferry Tale from Bloobidd, a Goot‐for‐Notting Nubbleman’ are told to a baby to encourage him to eat his cereal and ridicule traditional fairy‐tale plots.
