My 2003 3.0 Litre eclipse spyder owners manual says to use
premium with a minimum octane rating of 91,but you may use regular
unleaded with a minimum octane rating of 87 if premium is not
available.I've only used premium in mine and am very happy with
results so far.

BMW recommends using Premium Unleaded Gasoline with a minimum octane rating of RON 95 (equivalent to AKI 91 in the US)
