Psalm 51 is known as Miserere, because it begins with the words
"Miserere mei, Deus". Many composers have made their own settings
of the psalm, the most famous one may be the one by Gregorio
Allegri.

Latin: Miserere mei Deus English: Have mercy on me, O God,
secundum magnam misericordiam tuam according to your great goodness
The Latin text comes from the first verse of Psalm 51 written by King David after the prophet Nathan came to him condemning him for lying with Bathsheba. The psalm is used liturgically to express repentance and has many musical settings most of which are named "Miserere".
