Plot

This Pathe scenic film was originally released in tandem with the studio's "kid" comedy Betty Is Still at Her Old Tricks. All of the natural beauties of the titular islands are well in evidence, and all were splendidly photographed by the uncredited team of Pathe cameramen. Adding to the visual luster of the film was the studio's decision to color-tint the frames (a common practice at the time). Throughout the film, the Moluccan natives are seen at work and play, most of them naked or very nearly so. In its otherwise positive review of the film, Variety condemned this "unpleasant" display of nudity. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
