Moon Knight was created by writer Doug Moench and artist Don Perlin. The character made his first appearance in "Werewolf by Night" #32 in 1975.

The real name of Moon Knight is Marc Spector. He is a former Marine, CIA operative, and mercenary who becomes the vigilante known as Moon Knight after a mission in Egypt.

The Knight of the White Moon is a character in Miguel de Cervantes' "Don Quixote." He challenges Don Quixote to a duel, defeats him, and forces him to return to his village for a year. Ultimately, the Knight of the White Moon is revealed to be Sampson Carrasco, a friend of Don Quixote's who seeks to cure him of his madness.

It seems unlikely at the moment, but there is a Moon Knight television series that has seen a few attempts at development. The most recent discussion was in January of 2009. Since he is not as popular as other franchises he is not as important.
