Kyat

MYANMAR

The official currency in Myanmar is Kyat (pronounced like 'chat'), which you cannot obtain prior to entering the country. Instead, bring with you new and crisp US dollar bills to exchange at banks and guesthouses into Kyat. ATM's can be found sporadically across Myanmar, which dispense Kyat. There is approximately 1,000 Kyat to a dollar.

The kyat is the currency of Myanmar/Burma. It is often abbreviated as "K", which is placed before the numerical value.
