Nancy Hopkins is an American biologist at MIT, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. In January 2005, she provoked a public controversy by leaking comments that Lawrence Summers, president of Harvard University, had made at a closed economics conference at the National Bureau of Economic Research. [2] She also conducted a study on gender inequality at MIT that brought about corrective actions from then-president Charles M. Vest.
