Nandyal is a town, mandal and a municipality in Kurnool district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The town has a unique place in India since it is the only Parliamentary constituency which produced a President, Neelam Sanjiva Reddy and a Prime Minister, P.V.Narasimha Rao though both of them were not locals of Nandyal. Narasimha Rao got elected from Nandyal with the highest majority of votes in independent India and perhaps in the world.[citation needed]
Nandyal is located at [1]. It has an average elevation of 203 metres (666 feet).Nandyal lies in the western part of Andhra Pradesh.This region is bounded by thick Nallamala forests.The Telugu Ganga canal and S.R.B.C.Canal flow near Nandyal making the land fertile.
Nandyal is a top city in Electronics, like using mobile phones, Computers, Laptops and many more Electronic Items. 90% peoples are using mobile phones, 50% business is mobile shops like City Cell Point, etc.
As of 2001 India census[2], Nandyal had a population of 151,771. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Nandyal has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 55%. In Nandyal, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Now there is a medical college for M.B.B.S,B.D.S and three engineering colleges.Among these educational instituitions Medical college and two engineering colleges are found by Mr.santhiram.
There is a well known pipe manufacturing company name Nandi pipes and the founder of this company got elected as M.P(Mr S.P.Y.Reddy) in the year 2004
Nandyal is an Assembly and Lok Sabha constituency.
