Naturalized Citizen

One who, having been born in another country or otherwise reared as a foreigner, has been granted U.S. citizenship and the rights and privileges of that status. The process by which such a person attains citizenship is called naturalization.
(or “the conferring of nationality of a state upon a person after birth, by any means whatsoever.”) 8 U.S.C. §§23 and 1421 et seq. The person seeking naturalization must satisfy the burden of establishing good moral character and must be a resident of the United States for five years. 8 U.S.C. §1427.
