Nature Knows Best is a 13-volume children's series exploring contemporary environmental issues, as well as possible local and global solutions to ecological problems plaguing the planet. Backed by solid research, the programs offer information in an entertaining format. Animation and fun characters capture the attention of viewers, while presenting important concepts. In part four, The Earth's Alive, host Albert learns some remarkable facts from his new friend, an earthworm. Together, the duo explore farming methods, from monoculture to organic systems. Albert encounters creatures that aerate the soils and discovers the importance of crop rotation. Also covered in this episode is the danger of agricultural interests in not recycling. The series is appropriate for youngsters in elementary through junior high grades.
