This Italian avant-garde underground film features Viva, Tina Aumont, Pierre Clementi, and Carmelo Bene. Lengthy shots of stationary figures such as Frankenstein, Attila the Hun, Montezuma, and the Devil represent centuries of sublimation that have created civilization. ~ Iotis Erlewine, Rovi
Review
This pretentious and tedious underground film features Viva, Tina Aumont, Pierre Clément, and Carmelo Bene. Lugubrious and overlong shots of stationary figures such as Frankenstein, Attila the Hun, Montezuma, and the Devil fail to entertain or enlighten the audience. Director Franco Brocani gave a murky illustration that the 15-minute Frankenstein scene and his unintelligible guttural responses supposedly represents the working class. Neither his insight or his film impressed the audience in the debut at the 1970 Benalmadena Film Festival. ~ Dan Pavlides, Rovi
