Coordinates: 8°36′12″N 77°00′10″E / 8.60333°N 77.00278°ENedumangad is a city and a municipality in Thiruvananthapuram district in the Indian state of Kerala. It is one of four taluks in the district. It is located around 20 km to the north-east of Thiruvananthapuram city on the Thiruvananthapuram — Thenmala State Highway. It is an important centre for the commercial trade in pepper and rubber. A wholesale market set up by the Department of Agriculture (with the assistance of the European Union) is also situated there. ==Geography==Nedumangad is located at 8°36′N 77°00′E / 8.6°N 77.0°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 68 metres (223 feet).It lies 18 km from Thiruvananthapuram (or Trivandrum) on the way to Ponmudi hill resort. It is the capital of the taluk, and is unique for having no coastal belt or railway lines.[clarification needed]It is bounded on the west by Trivandrum Taluk, on the east by the State of Tamilnadu, on the south by Neyyattinkara Taluk and on the north by Kollam district. ==Transportation==Nedumangad is well connected by road to Thiruvananthapuram and the rest of the taluk. KSRTC, the state owned transport corporation, has a monopoly on bus service, with a major depot in the central city. ==Electricity==Nedumangad has very good electrical distribution network.A 110kV substation is situated in Nedumangad.A Section Office is situated at Mancha with Phone no-2802429 .Complaints can be registered in this Office.Recently this section has been converted to a model one. == Places of Interest ==Nearby Nedumangad is the Koyikkal Palace, an excellent specimen of the traditional architecture of Kerala, which houses a numismatic musuem.
