Patients should be seen at least monthly for the first three
months to monitor for signs of other complications, such as the
abnormal formation of blood vessels (neovascularization) in the
iris of the eye or glaucoma.

Untreated inclusion conjunctivitis in the newborn persists for
3-12 months and usually heals; however, there may be scarring or
neovascularization. In the adult, if left untreated, the disease
may continue for months and cause corneal.
