(medicine) Any joint disease. A neurotrophic disorder of a joint, usually due to lack of pain sensation, found in association with tabes dorsalis, leprosy, syringomyelia, diabetic polyneuropathy, and occasionally multiple sclerosis and myelodysplasias.

A destructive joint disease caused by diminished proprioceptive sensation that results in repeated subliminal injury. Also called neuropathic arthropathy.

Although the terms "arthropathy" and arthritis have very similar meanings, the former is traditionally used to describe the following conditions:

  • Enteropathic arthropathy (M07) is caused by colitis and related conditions.
