Wax Village Myth

For a number of years the residents of neighbouring town, Hartlepool, have spread a rumour that Newton Bewley is a village of wax people[citation needed].
The rumour is based on the fact that, although Newton Bewley is situated on a very busy main road, the A689, nobody[who?] is able to quote a date when a living person has actually been seen in the village.
The myth is strengthened by local-interest websites that fail to mention real names, and feature images of mannequins or empty rooms[citation needed].
