NFL Films promotes and preserves the history of the gridiron. Every year, the National Football League (NFL) subsidiary films about 270 professional football games, consisting of about 1,000 miles of film. Since its inception, NFL Films has shot more than 9,000 games. It also records other sporting events such as the World Series, produces content for the NFL Network, and offers commercial and corporate video production services unrelated to football. All told, NFL Films produces more than 4,000 hours of programming every year. The company has won more than 90 Emmy awards. Ed Sobol and his son Steve (company president) co-founded NFL Films in 1964 when Ed convinced the NFL it needed its own film company.
