Thich Nhat Hanh

A Vietnamese zen monk and founding father of the Engaged Buddhism movement. Nhat Hanh became active in the peace movement in his country in the wake of the Vietnam War and in 1964 founded a volunteer organization known as the School of Youth for Social Service to help rebuild the rural infrastructure. However, his anti-war activism made him unpopular with the authorities and he was forced into exile and now resides in France. He has taught widely in America and Europe and is the author of many books on Engaged Buddhist themes.
