(b c1600; d Brussels, bur. 11 Aug 1676). Flemish composer. He was organist of Ste Gudule, Brussels, from 1627. His four books of Symphoniae provide some of the earliest-known sonatas in the Low Countries; they are for various numbers and combinations of instruments and some include popular melodies. He was succeeded at Ste Gudule by his son Joannes Florentius (1635- after 1711), who was also a composer, as was his son Thomas (1628-88).
