Biography

Nikki Cleary first found success with the 2001 novelty pop hit "I.M. Me," which was issued under her given name, Brittney Cleary. But when buzz surrounding that single generated label interest in the young singer, her eventual signing with Jive facilitated a name change. After all, the powerhouse pop label already had one Britney in its stable. Cleary's eponymous full-length debut appeared in August 2003. It was a clean-cut set of originals and peppy covers, and included a duet with Dream Street heartthrob Chris Trousdale on the Grease classic "You're the One That I Want." The record made some waves at Radio Disney, and Cleary supported it that autumn with a round of mini-concerts at malls and middle schools. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide

Brittney Rose "Nikki" Cleary (born May 11, 1988) is a pop-rock singer who was born in Albany, New York.

Cleary first hit the pop market with the catchy song "I.M. Me" while still using her given name. Her debut album, Everything I Wished For, was released independently under the Free Falls record label in 2002 after two years of recording. The album hit #45 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart. When Cleary signed with Jive Records in the summer of 2002, they asked to change her name because they already had a Britney on their roster. Her self-titled album, Nikki Cleary was released in the summer of 2003.

She was featured on a Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards record in 2003. She also performed on Nickelodeon's "All That." Cleary also did a version of "Summertime Guys". She contributed to the Mean Girls motion picture soundtrack with the song "Hated".

Nikki attended Clayton A. Bouton High School in Voorheesville, New York, and Mohonasen's Draper Middle School in Schenectady, New York.
