Typically, the connection is that when people are politically
free to express their own interests, they will correspondingly be
economically free to buy and sell goods and services. This is a
weak connection at best, since there are numerous countries with
relatively free markets that are very non-democratic and there are
numerous countries that are democratic with highly nationalized or
restricted markets.
