The Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE) creates policy and administers programs aimed at increasing access to high quality postsecondary education. Its Policy, Planning, and Innovation division does budgeting and forecasting for legislative policy along with strategic planning. Higher Education Programs works specifically on improving higher education access for disadvantaged and international students as well as administering funding programs for historically Black colleges. The Accreditation and State Liaison connects state educational institutions with federal financial assistance groups. OPE is part of the Department of Education.
