The Olmec people worshiped the jaguar. They also worshiped what they called a sky dragon and Werejaguars. Werejaguars were children with jaguar features.

They worshiped the jaguar spirit and found it to be very sacred.

The Olmec kept their calendars on stone stelae. These stelae were large, upright stone slabs often featuring inscriptions and carvings related to important events and dates in the Olmec calendar system.
