Aguado, Olympe (1827-94), aristocratic amateur photographer of Spanish origin, resident in France. Le Comte Aguado was a founding member of the Société Héliographique and later of the Société Française de Photographie. Taught by Gustave Le Gray, he was the prototype of the wealthy, committed enthusiast. He specialized in topographical and genre subjects, using the calotype, albumen, and collodion processes, and played an active role in promoting photography in France.
