Operation Junkyard

Plot

A collaboration between NBC and the TLC and Discovery Kids cable services, this weekend-morning series had much in common with such adult "techno-wonk" programs as Junkyard Wars. Each half-hour episode featured two teams of two kids each, who would endeavor within a limited time frame to build and operate creative mechanical devices, assembled from a pile of junk crammed into a converted school bus. The series utilized animation to explain the practical principles behind each invention. Operation Junkyard debuted October 5, 2002, as part of the three-hour Discovery Kids on NBC Saturday-morning programming block. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
