There are many book shops that sell art instruction books. One specialist shop online called Painters' books has a wide selection of art books offering tuition in oil painting, drawing, sketching, acrylic painting and many other techniques.

Instructional materials on interior painting can be found at your local library, it is not uncommon for many DIY hardware stores to stock books and instruction manuals on this topic as well.

Painting by numbers is a program for children to learn how to paint but concept and design. It is set up so that a picture is divided by lines and in each section there is a number and on the side of the page is a code a number equals a color. Then the child paints by instruction until the picture is complete.

There are many online painting classes available to you. Some are free, some have a finite number of free lessons before a charge is applied and some sell a course that you can do at home. You can get instruction in several different mediums such as water color, oils and acrylics depending on your personal preference.
