Panama Canal Authority, an agency of the Panamanian government owns the canal. Complete control was turned over to them by a joint U.S/Panama administration on December 31, 1999.

The Panama Canal is owned by Li Ka Shing, a Hong Kong based billionaire, and is run by the Panama Canal Authority.

There is no Balboa High School, it was disbanded when the Canal reverted to Panama. The facilities are now owned by the Panama Canal Authority, and are used mainly as a maritime training facility.
