Paris Match

A popular news and current-events magazine aimed at the middle class, it features picture-stories on such subjects as public affairs, entertainment, fashion, and consumer products. Its format resembles that of Life, and it is similarly noted for topicality and outstanding photography. Under the ownership of Jean Prouvost (d. 1978), it achieved prestige and financial success. It is now published by Hachette Filipacchi Médias, one of the world's largest magazine publishers.

Paris Match, French weekly illustrated magazine, launched by Jean Prouvost on 25 March 1949. Its precursor was Match (1926-44). In 1962 it began incorporating 32 pages of colour pictures, but black- and-white remained important and revived strongly at the end of the 20th century. The magazine adapted successfully to television and the rise of the big French and international agencies, but with far fewer than its original corps of c.25 staff photographers. Contributors have included most of the world's most celebrated fashion photographers and photojournalists. In 1999 its circulation stood at 900, 000.

paris match (band) is also a Japanese musical group.

Paris Match is a French weekly magazine. It covers major national and international news along with celebrity lifestyle features. It was founded in 1949 by the industrialist Jean Prouvost.

In 1976 Daniel Filipacchi purchased the ailing Paris Match, and turned it into one of France's most successful and influential magazines. The magazine is now part of Hachette Filipacchi Médias, which is itself owned by the Lagardère Group. [1]

On occasion, Paris Match has sold more than one million copies worldwide when covering major events such as the first flight by a French astronaut aboard the U.S. Space Shuttle in June 1985. Benoit Clair, a senior writer for Paris Match was the first journalist allowed to join the shuttle crew members from training until the departure for the launch pad at Cape Canaveral. A series of reports on the training was published in Paris Match on 22 April 1985, 17 June 1985 and 20 January 1986.[2]
