1953The Paris Review. This quarterly devoted to contemporary writing debuts. Founded and edited by George Plimpton (1927-2003) and other expatriates living in Paris, the first issue featured what would become the journal's trademark, a long interview with a contemporary writer (in this case, E. M. Forster) on the craft of writing.
