Some partial seizures are associated with an altered level of consciousness, even though the person might appear to be awake and his or her eyes may be open. In this type of seizure, called a complex partial seizure, the affected person is unaware of the people nearby during the event, is not aware of his or her own movements or behaviors during the seizure, and does not remember the seizure after it occurs. When the person having a partial seizure is aware of having a seizure, is aware of his or her surroundings and remembers the event afterward, the seizure is classified as a simple partial seizure.

well, there are many types of seizures. if someone is having a grand mal, the person will become unconcious and either become stiff, jerk their body, or both. when someone has a simple partial seizure, you sometimes cant tell at all. but, when having a simple seizure, someones arm or leg will twitch or jerk. with a complex partial seizure, the person will become unconcious, and maybe jerk their body.

Complex partial seizures are hard to detect because they have normal human attributes, such as moving around and having the eyes open. However, if someone were to ask a simple question and get a very odd response or no response at all and the suspect seems to have very little control of his or her actions, this could be indicative of a complex partial seizure.

The petit mal or absence seizures often are. However, people having any kind of seizure can experience an aura.

Partial Seizures are most often associated with auras.
