partisan
meaning 'a zealous supporter of a cause' or 'a guerrilla in wartime', is normally pronounced in British English with a -z- sound and with the stress on the last syllable, but in American English a first-syllable stress is often preferred. It is also used as an adjective meaning 'loyal to a cause, biased'.
