Paul Hodes (born March 21, 1951) is an American attorney, musician, and politician. He is currently a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives, representing New Hampshire's 2nd congressional district since 2007. He is New Hampshire's first Jewish member of the House of Representatives.
On February 4, 2009, Hodes announced he will run in 2010 for the seat in the United States Senate currently held by Judd Gregg, who will not be seeking re-election.

Early life and career
Hodes was born in New York City. After graduating from The Collegiate School, he entered college and received his bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College in 1972 and his law degree from Boston College Law School in 1978. He worked under David Souter as Assistant Attorney General of New Hampshire from 1979 to 1982. During this term, he prosecuted the first white-collar crime case in New Hampshire to result in incarceration for the offenders. Hodes has been a performer and patron of the arts and entertainment community since his Dartmouth years; in the 1990s he was a leader in the creation of the Capitol Center for the Arts, and he serves on the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.
His wife Peggo Hodes is an award-winning children's musician, and Rep. Hodes has recorded and performed with his wife as "Paul & Peggo."
Hodes ran as a Democrat for United States Congress in 2004 against incumbent Charlie Bass in New Hampshire's Second Congressional District. Hodes received 38% of the vote.
In the rematch held 7 November 2006, Hodes defeated Bass 53% to 46% in New Hampshire's 2006 Second Congressional district election[1]. Once his fundraising outstripped Bass's in the first and second quarters of 2006, and internal polling showed him virtually tied with Bass, Hodes was added to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's Red to Blue program, aiding his campaign.
Hodes endorsed Barack Obama in the 2008 New Hampshire Democratic presidential primary. In September 2008, he voted against the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, "the financial bailout bill". Congressman Hodes was reelected in 2008 with over 56% of the vote.
2010 U.S. Senate run
Hodes is running for U.S. Senate in 2010. Incumbent Senator Judd Gregg is retiring. Former state Supreme Court Justice Joseph Nadeau is also seeking the Democratic nomination. Former state Attorney General Kelly Ayotte is seeking the seat as a Republican.
