Sure, you think a bunch of hard rock and dirt is an impediment to finding what you need underground, but, for some, it's an altogether different story. Pediment Exploration owns a number of gold and silver mining projects, none in production, in the Mexican state of Sonora. It has one other in Baja California Sur and acquired more properties there in 2008. Pediment is staking its claim, so to speak, on the idea that its Sonoran properties have been overlooked in the past and that the application of modern mining techniques will yield great results. The company likens the region to Nevada's lucrative Carlin Trend region, which has given companies like Barrick and Newmont huge gold reserves in decades past.
