Phichit is a town (thesaban mueang) in northern Thailand, capital of the Phichit Province. It covers the whole tambon Nai Mueang of Mueang Phichit district, an area of 12.017 km². As of 2005 it has a population of 23,791.

Geography

Phichit is located where the Wat Ta Yom River, the next major tributary of the Nan south of the Wang Thong River drains into the Nan River from its source to the northeast (in the Noen Maprang District, of Phitsanulok Province).

Attractions

The Wat Tha Luang temple in Phichit is home to a large Luang Phor Phet Buddha image.
