The Georgia Piedmont lies between the Blue Ridge Mountaings and
the Upper Coastal Plain. It is part of a larger area, Piedmont
called the southern Piedmont and located in the southeastern and
mid-Atlantic regions of the United States, that is about 1,400
kilometers long and 100 to 300 kilometers wide. It runs in a
northeast-to-southwest direction, following the main axis of the
mountains, faults, and coastline of the southeastern United States.
The southern Piedmont extends from Alabama and Georgia
northeastward through South Carolina and North Carolina.
