Unfortunately, the first line - the older generations of high party members and people from the former Security (Romanian KGB) have been sacrificed then, by their own children and grandchildren, the newer, more cynical and pragmatical generations of "communists with human face" (to quote a characterization made by the first post-revolutionary president, Ion Iliescu, a former colleague of Gorbatchov, at the Party School in Moscow). So, sorry to disappoint, the Revolution has been just an exchange of generations. Outdated communists, feeling safe in their positions of power and manipulation, were replaced by newer, more aggressive ones, greedy and ready to sell everything, including their own mothers. Soon, Romania was covered in debts, the values were destroyed, new role models were imposed to a lesser and lesser educated population and things went bad, culminating with a prime minister who got his PhD by copying and pasting 87 pages of someone else's book and dismissing the 3 academical commissions who judged him for his act. So, happy we are.

By referring to Thesaurus.com, you can see that you could describe an opinionated person asadamant, arbitrary, assertive, biased, bigoted, bossy, bullheaded, cocksure, cocky, conceited, dictatorial, doctrinaire, dogmatic, hard-line, high-handed, inflexible, intransigent, locked in, obdurate, obstinate, one-sided, oracular, overbearing, pigheaded, positive, pragmatic, pragmatical, prejudiced, self-assertive, set in stone, set-on, single-minded, stubborn, tilted, uncompromising, unyielding, or weighted.

If they are also argumentative you could say that they are belligerent, combative, contentious, contrary, controversial, disputatious, factious, fire-eating, having a chip on their shoulder, opinionated, pugnacious, quarrelsome, salty, scrappy, spiky, or touchy.

If you consider that they are bigoted you might describe them as: biased, chauvinistic, dogmatic, narrow, narrow-minded, obstinate, opinionated, partial, partisan, sectarian, slanted, small-minded, twisted, unfair, or warped.

this is not a straightforward answer, however there are two saints (one traditionally and commonly recognized, and the other which one has to accept/believe im a more pragmatical) that may fit the part. saint Jude is the patron saint of lost causes. (wjod ; ich is quite fitting). Also in rural areas of Guatemala they worship san Simon (or as the natives call him maximon) by giving him offers of alcohol, tobacco, and even cash- even though religious/cultural beliefs have become blended in accordance to the believes and worships or such saint, he is regarded as the patron saint of drunks and gamblers.
