A local anaesthetic that is included as an ingredient in preparations for relieving the pain and itching associated with minor skin conditions and haemorrhoids.

Side effects:
pramocaine may cause initial burning or stinging.

Precautions:
preparations containing pramocaine should not be applied to the eyes or nose.

Proprietary preparations:
Anugesic-hydrocortisone (combined with zinc oxide, hydrocortisone acetate, Peru balsam, and benzyl benzoate); Anugesic-hydrocortisone Suppositories (combined with zinc oxide, hydrocortisone acetate, Peru balsam, bismuth subgallate, bismuth oxide, and benzyl benzoate); Proctofoam hydrocortisone (combined with hydrocortisone acetate).
