Mormonism believes in pre-ordination, but does not believe in
pre-destination.
The difference is this: Mortality is the second stage of our
existence. During the first stage -- the pre-existence -- many
individuals were ordained (set apart) to complete certain missions
while on earth. That ordination is an aid to completing the
mission, but does not compel completion. Whether or not an
individual fulfils his or her mission is a matter of personal
choice.
