The word is a malapropism uttered by Irene Handl in a radio sketch with Peter Sellers. She meant "gravitate". In the same sketch she says "prurile", meaning "prurient".

Prurience refers to inappropriate curiosity or interest about others sex lives. Lust refers to a sexual feeling within yourself towards others.

Many colonists were not allowed to dance, because it was seen as wanton or prurient and was therefore against their religion. One such group was the Puritans.
