Deliberately or intentionally, 383 P. 2d 726, 728. As used in criminal statutes to define murder, "purposely" means intentionally, and as an act of the will, not accidentally. 249 N.E. 2d 78, 80. In the Model Penal Code it is one of the four defined mental states. Model Penal Code §2.02(1). "A person acts purposely with respect to a material element of an offense when . . . It is his conscious object to engage in conduct . . . Or cause a result." Model Penal Code §2.02(2) (a).
