The standard adverb in most contexts is really.

2. As an adjective real tends to be overused in an intensifying role equivalent to adjectives such as 'significant, important, strong':

adj

Definition: genuine in existence
Antonyms: dishonest, fake, false, feigned, imaginary, imitation, invalid, unreal, untrue

Not simulated. Often used as a specific antonym to virtual in any of its jargon senses.

Term used in certain special senses as opposite to tonal, e.g. in fugue real answer is when the answer exactly reproduces the subject (except for a 5th displaced), the fugue being a real fugue. In sequence, if the intervals within a sequence are unaltered, the result is called a real sequence.

The term is most straightforwardly used when qualifying another adjective: a real x may be contrasted with a fake x, a failed x, a near x, and so on. To treat something as real, without qualification, is to suppose it to be part of the actual world. To reify something is to suppose that we are committed by some doctrine to treating it as a thing. The central error in thinking of reality and existence is to think of the unreal as a separate domain of things, perhaps unfairly deprived of the benefits of existence. See also being, existence, nothing, quantifier, realism/anti-realism.
