Dictionary: Re·al·tor   ('əl-tər, -tôr') pronunciation

A service mark used for a real-estate agent affiliated with the National Association of Realtors. This service mark often occurs in print in lowercase and in the plural as well: "The economic aftershocks are already rippling through the area's non-defense businesses, from realtors to pizzerias" (New York Times).

In the United States a designation used to describe a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR).

Investopedia Says:
The term "realtor" is a registered trademark and encompasses agents, brokers and associates who are members of a real-estate firm associated with the NAR.

Realtors are trained and licensed to assist clients in the purchase and/or sale of their properties.

Registered trade name that can be used only by members of state and local real estate boards affiliated with the National Association of Realtors (NAR). A realtor-associate is trained and licensed to help clients buy and sell real estate. Realtors must follow a strict code of ethics and receive ongoing training from the NAR. Any complaints about a particular realtor are dealt with at the local real estate board affiliated with the NAR.
