Allen's Farm is one of the names for the engagement fought on
June 29, 1862, as the rearguard of the Army of the Potomac withdrew
from the entrenchments at Fair Oaks to a position at Savage
Station. This was part of McClellan's change of base to the James
River in the series of battles known as The Seven Days. Allen's
Farm was located near Orchard Station, and the engagement is known
by that name, and also by the name Peach Orchard. The fighting
lasted about two hours, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., and the rearguard
then pulled back to Savage Station during the lull.
