Biography

To put it simply, Rhino Bucket sound exactly like Bon Scott-era AC/DC, something for which the band makes no apologies. Furthermore, what could easily be passed off as mere plagiarism, becomes instead a celebration of the original masterpiece thanks to Rhino Bucket's bold-faced indifference and oftentimes fantastic songs. They also deserve some credit for coming up with one of the most original and bizarre names in rock history.

Formed in Van Nuys, CA, in 1987 by Finnish-born transplant Georg Dolivo (Bon Scott-cloned vocals and guitar), lead guitarist Greg Fields, bassist Reeve Downes, and drummer Liam Jason, Rhino Bucket perfectly replicated AC/DC's raw, three-chord boogie to perfection on their self-titled debut album. But while they were quickly embraced by the U.K. and European press, the band was faced with nothing but apathy and scorn in America, where they were pegged as rip-off artists and received little promotional support from their label. Despite the inclusion of one of its tracks, "Ride With Yourself," in Mike Myers' popular Wayne's World movie, their aptly titled second album, 1992's Get Used to It, also failed to make any headway, and the band was soon unceremoniously dropped by Reprise. Still they soldiered on, and in an ironic twist of fate, recruited former AC/DC skin-pounder Simon Wright to replace the departed Liam Jason for their third album, 1994's independently released Pain. Rhino Bucket finally called it a day the following year, but eventually re-formed in 2001 with plans to record a new album. Interestingly, the new lineup included original drummer Liam Jason, billed as Jackie Enx following sexual reassignment surgery. After a lengthy hiatus, the group returned in 2006 with And Then It Got Ugly.~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide

Rhino Bucket is a hard rock band from Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California.

The band was formed in 1988 by Georg Dolivo (guitars and lead vocals), Greg Fields (guitars), Reeve Downes (bass), and Rick Kubach (drums). This lineup played the Los Angeles rock scene for a year with contemporaries such as Junkyard, The Four Horsemen, Rage Against the Machine and countless others. Warner Brothers signed the band in 1989 and they released their self-titled debut in 1990 with Liam Jason(Warrior) on drums.

Their second album, 1992's Get Used To It, was recorded in Memphis with producer Terry Manning (Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, George Thorogood). The album contained "Ride With Yourself" which was featured in the hit movie Wayne's World. In 1993, drummer Simon Wright (AC/DC, Dio) joined the band and appeared on the 1994 album Pain. The band continued extensive touring, but by 1996 the band went on what turned out to be an extended hiatus.

After fiddling with a few different names and lineups Rhino Bucket reformed in 2001 with Brian "Damage" Forsythe from KIX joining the core group and taking on lead guitar duties from Fields (aka Fidelman) who had gone on to a successful producing and engineering career (Marilyn Manson, Metallica). The band worked on a few movie soundtracks including the pot cult film Rolling Kansas and the title song for the movie The Outdoorsmen - Blood, Sweat & Beers. Again the band became a fixture on the now quite different L.A. rock scene.

In April 2006 Rhino Bucket released "And Then It Got Ugly" and then proceeded to tour with like minded friends Broken Teeth, The Supersuckers and KIX. 2007 saw the release of two new CDs "Pain & Suffering" and "No Song Left Behind". The former is a enhanced (5 new tracks) of their 1994 album Pain, while the latter is a compilation of un-released songs and live performances. In July 2007, Simon Wright reunited with the band at the Rocklahoma festival. Rhino Bucket released their newest album, "The Hardest Town", in May 2009. The band is also featured on "The Wrestler" soundtrack and album and is currently touring America with a European tour commencing in 2010.[1].
