Richard Aldrich

(b Providence, ri, 31 July 1863; d Rome, 2 June 1937). American critic. He studied at Harvard under Paine and held posts in Providence and Washington, later joining the New York Tribune and then serving as music editor of the New York Times, 1902-23. He was noted for his urbane style, broad knowledge and sound judgement.
