Biography

Texas has a strong punk history and identity all its own, so a band hailing from Dallas that's compared to New Jersey legends the Misfits might seem like a head scratcher. During their ten-year existence from 1988 to 1998, Riot Squad may have worn their heart on their sleeve when it came to the Misfits, but they put their own Southern spin of rockabilly on it as well. They released numerous singles, and although the self-titled CD from 1998 signaled the end of Riot Squad, it also paved the way for their next cow punk project, the Staggers. ~ Wade Kergan, All Music Guide
