Robin Mattson

Robin Mattson (born June 1, 1956 in Los Angeles) is an American soap opera actress.

She is arguably the best known character actress on daytime serials, with all of her roles proving to be extremely popular. Mattson was typically cast in supporting, "villainess" type roles, often incorporating other elements to her acting pallette. There was her distinctive flair for the dramatic, as in her roles in Santa Barbara and General Hospital, where she played an immoral goldigger and a psychopath, in the respective shows. She excelled in her flair for comic timing as on Santa Barbara, with fellow actors such as Lane Davies, Gordon Thomson, Justin Deas and Nicolas Coster. Mattson often played the role as an observing outsider, as in her roles on Santa Barbara, All My Children and As the World Turns, in which she desperately wanted to regain relationships with her children and her sense of family.

• Heather Webber on General Hospital (1980-1983 and from June to December, 2004).
• Delia Reid on Ryan's Hope (1984).
• Gina Blake Lockridge on Santa Barbara (1985-1993).
• Janet Green on All My Children (1994-2000).
• Sugar (the brief role as Sheila's sidekick) on The Bold and the Beautiful in 2003.
• Cheri Love on As the World Turns (2007)

Robin acted in the romantic comedy movie The Last Guy on Earth (2006) (post production).

Mattson also played Francine Landon, mother of an American Muslim extremist, in "American Jihad," the 13th-season opener of television series Law and Order.

Trivia

• Her nutty character on All My Children was referred to by other characters as well as television columnists as "Janet from Another Planet".
• Janet was originally supposed to have a bomb explode Trevor and Laurel's wedding chapel. The plot, however, was reworked because the Oklahoma City bombing took place shortly before the intended episode was to air. Mattson herself delivered an on-air announcement regarding the change to the story.
• Mattson is a gourmet cook. She co-authored the cook book Soap Opera Café : The Skinny on Food from a Daytime Star.

• Robin Mattson guest-starred as 'Da-Nay' on The Six Million Dollar Man episodes, "The Lost Island: Part 1", and "The Lost Island: Part 2".

Mattson also had a significant role in the two-hour 'Dukes of Hazzard' episode, "Carnival of Thrills," which aired at the beginning of season three in 1981. In it she played Bo Duke's love interest, "Diane," who was also the head of a traveling stunt-thrill show.
