Julius Caesar never recognized the boy called Caesarion as his son. If Caesarion were Caesar's son it would have been political suicide for him to acknowledge him because his mother was a foreigner, and no foreigner could inherit from a Roman. Also it's doubtful that Caesar even knew of Caesarion's existence. No ancient writer mentions Cleopatra having a child with her on her visits to Rome and wily Cleopatra certainly would have used him as a political tool if he were, in fact Caesar's son. Also, the existence of Caesarion, although known in Egypt, was not even known in Rome until after Caesar's death. The paternity of Caesarion raises many questions.
