A Ghost Frog or Heleophrynidae is a frog whose color and patterns allow it to appear to vanish into the background when it sits very still. They live in South Africa in swift-moving mountain streams.
The ghost frog belongs to the family Heleophrynidae, which is a group of frogs found in southern Africa. They are part of the genus Heleophryne, which includes several species of ghost frogs.

Ghost frogs may be so named because they are found in Skeleton Gorge in South Africa.
Or, when they are very still, due to the fact that their colors and patterns match the forest floor where they live, they seem to disappear.
